Significance of the Study

It is the part of a research that provides and describes the contribution of the study to the existing body of knowledge.

Primarily, it states who are the beneficiaries who wil directly gain from your study and the benefits they may acquire from your research.

Beneficiaries

  • It is a person, organization, etc., tthat benefits from something.
  • There are two types of beneficiaries:
    • Academic Beneficiaries: may include educational staff, teachers, students, and reaserchers.
    • Non-academic Beneficiaries: may include stakeholders, policymakers, agencies, and organizations.

Benefits

  • These are the perceived contributions that produce helpful or useful result or effect
  • There are three kinds of benefits:
    • Academic: advantages related to academic excellence
    • Professional: advantages related to career
    • Personal: advantages related to self-growth

Guidelines in Writing

  1. Decide on your format (whether it is paragraph form or enumerated form)
  2. Determine and arrange the sequence of beneficiaries from the degree of importance or hierarchial in the study
  3. Identify the beneficiaries and their benefits of the study.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

  • Scope of the Study (coverage)
    • It is the part of the study where you explain the extent of your research.
    • It is also where the variables to be used in research are determines.

Delimitations vs. Limitations

  • Delimitation of the Study (boundaries)

    • These are the choices made by the researcher which should be mentioned
    • It describes the boundaries that you have set for the study.
  • Limitation of the Study (weaknesses/restrictions)

    • These are the conditions or influences that cannot be controlled by the eseaecher that place restrictions on your methodology and conclusions

Guidelines in Writing

  1. Explain the main/major variables (IV & CV) in the first paragraph.
  2. In the second paragraph, introduce the participants, delimitations, and indicators or subvariables under study. Include the sata to be used.
  3. Lastly, state the delimitations of the study by writing the coverage date, research locale, and the research instrument and method to be used in the data gathering procedure
